YOUNG ARTISTS' WORKSHOP
Since the very beginning, Arts Education has been at the center of our work as a primary mission. The first itteration of the YAW took place in Baltimore, MD, in collaboration with the NAACP Act-So program. Singers, Actors, and Dancers from the touring company of Disney's THE LION KING taught a half-day workshop with students from across Baltimore, providing them with merchandise from the show and a backstage tour.
The following year the first official YAW launched in Detroit. In collaboration with The Carr Center, close to 100 students recieved a day long workshop including classes in vocal music, dance, and theatre. The event concluded with a Mock Audition, where students were given the opportunity to experience the rigors of professional theatre.
The YAW grew in following years to include multiple day curriculum, and design thinking workshops. We are currently working to expand into a semster long curriculum, including a Youth Arts Fellowship, where students are given the opportunity to shadow professional artists and technicians throughout the year.
